UNDERINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE (Part XII) If Underinsured Motorist Coverage is added to supplement the Uninsured Motorist Coverage, the coverage applies when a negligent driver has the minimum bodily injury liability limits at the time of an accident. The minimum limits may be insufficient to pay for damages that the negligent driver is responsible for. This is when the insured's underinsured coverage would apply and pay the difference.
